THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Neyyattinkara additional sessions court will pronounce its verdict in the infamous Sharon murder case on Friday. The verdict comes after three years of trial in the case that shook the state. The judgment will be pronounced on the 17th after hearing the final arguments of the prosecution and the defense. The final hearing was held for three days before Additional Sessions Judge AM Basheer.
Special Public Prosecutor VS Vineet Kumar argued that the first accused Greeshma was found guilty of poisoning, murdering Sharon and even trying to mislead the case. The prosecutor also argued that the first accused Greeshma, the second accused Greeshma's mother Sindhu and the third accused Greeshma's uncle Nirmalakumaran Nair were found guilty of destroying evidence.
However, the defense tried to prove the incident to be a case of suicide. They argued that Sharon took the poisoned drink when Greeshma was inside the loo, washing her face. The strange case that created a buzz in Kerala happened on October 14, 2022. It was alleged that Greeshma poisoned her boyfriend as she wanted him out of the relationship, so as to not create trouble in her planned marriage with another person. It was said that Greeshma feared Sharon to react vehemently if she revealed her plans to break up. Sharon Raj died after 11 days of treatment in the Medical College ICU.
The case was investigated by a special investigation team formed by Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP D. Shilpa. S. PMK Zulfikar, DYSP KJ Johnson, VT Rasith and Parassala Inspector Saji. Special Public Prosecutor VS Vineet Kumar, Adv. At Alphas Madathil, Adv. Navneet Kumar appeared for the prosecution.
