THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the last five international matches he played, Sanju scored three centuries. Most of the fans and cricket enthusiasts thought Sanju to be a sure inclusion into the Champions Trophy squad to be held in Pakistan and Dubai next month. Everyone thought Sanju was in the form of his life, but alas, BCCI thought otherwise. When the squad was announced, Sanju was omitted while underperforming Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul made it into the team.
Fans believe the snub to be the brainchild of captain Rohit Sharma and the Kerala Cricket Association. Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor called Sanju a victim of existing ego clashes within KCA. Social media is also replete with severe criticism from cricket enthusiasts.
Now Sanju's father Samson Vishwanath came forward to respond to this issue. He alleged that many attempts were made to kill Sanju's cricket career before.
Samson Vishwanath:
“I know who is behind snubbing Sanju from the Vijay Hazare trophy. Not just Sanju, there are even other players who missed the Hazare trophy camp. But they played in the tournament. But Sanju was shown the door. Even before the tournament, I presaged they would find some vague reason to keep Sanju out. Not everyone, but there are just two or three vermins within KCA.
Once when they decided to oust Sanju, it was Rahul Dravid who intervened and held Sanju close. The same people are responsible for ruining my elder son Saly’s cricket career. I am requesting again with the KCA official to give up hatred.”
