THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala University has approved the option for students to pursue two different degree courses at the same time. Students can now enroll in a regular college course along with a distance education/online course, or two distance education/online courses, enabling them to earn dual degrees.
Arts students with the required qualifications can also study science subjects. This decision follows the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The Academic Council meeting on the 17th will grant final approval for this. Both newly admitted students and those currently enrolled in degree programs can opt for dual degrees.
As part of the National Education Policy (NEP), UGC has allowed students to pursue two degrees simultaneously to help them acquire diverse skill sets. With this new opportunity, students' employment prospects are expected to double.
