Musk begins work after taking charge, orders federal workers to report or resign

WASHINGTON: Elon Musk recently took over as the billionaire head of US President Donald Trump’s administration Department of Government Efficiency. Reports said Musk's policies have become more of a headache for employees since he took office. Musk has a mission to reduce the costs of the federal government and eliminate wasteful spending.

As part of this, he has fired several government employees. Now, Musk has informed all US federal employees to provide details of the work they did in a week. He informed the employees via email. Musk has also informed that if they do not provide details of the work they did in a week, they will be fired.

Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week.

Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.

The email in this regard was sent the other day. Musk informed that ignoring the instruction will be considered as resignation. Details of five jobs that employees did last week have been requested. Musk has informed this through his X page. He has given time till 11.59 pm on Monday to respond. However, the email did not clarify what employees who have gone on leave should do. The new policy has caused a great shock among the federal employees. Employees are worried that there will be mass layoffs.
