NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate has issued notices to 11 Indians deported by the US for illegal immigration. The ED's action is part of its investigation into agents who facilitate the illegal migration of people from India to the US through Dunki Routes.
The ED has issued notices to ten people from Punjab and one from Haryana. They have been asked to appear at the ED's Jalandhar office. The authorities said that the action is part of an investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The investigation is part of a case against 15 agents in connection with illegal human trafficking.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the US has stopped deporting illegal immigrants by military aircraft. The move is said to be due to high costs. The US has not made an official response to this. Some foreign media outlets have reported that the use of military aircraft for deportations may be suspended for a long time. The last time a military aircraft was used for deportation was on March 1.
The US began sending illegal immigrants back to their countries after Donald Trump took office as president in January. Flights carrying such immigrants have arrived in various countries, including India.
