‘Death of actress Soundarya was not an accident but a planned murder’; complaint filed against actor Mohan Babu 

HYDERABAD: The death of actress Soundarya still remains a mystery. Serious allegations have been levelled against popular Telugu actor Mohan Babu. A complaint has been filed against the actor at the Khammam police station in Andhra Pradesh by Chittimallu alleging that the actor’s death was not accidental but a murder linked to a property dispute connected to Mohan Babu.

The actress had six acres of land at Jalpally in Shamshadbad. Mohan Babu had pressured the actress and her brother to sell the land to him. However, the actress and her brother Amarnath Shetty refused to give in and this led to a conflict between the two actors. After her death, Mohan Babu took possession of the land. A FIR has not been registered in this matter yet.

The complainant has requested the state government to investigate Mohan Babu's role in the land seizure. Chittimallu has filed a complaint with the Khammam Assistant Police Commissioner and the District Police Officer, alleging that his life is in danger and requested police protection. The complaint also flagged the property dispute between Mohan Babu and his younger son Manchu Manoj. Mohan Babu has not yet responded to the allegations.

Soundarya was a popular actress who played the role of Radha in the 1999 Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Sooryavansham. Soundarya has acted with leading actors in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The actress and her brother died when their private jet crashed while they were traveling to Karimnagar to attend a political event on April 17, 2004. 31-year-old Soundarya was pregnant when she died. The bodies of both could not be found from the accident spot.
