LONDON: Sree Narayana Guru Mission of the UK celebrated International Women’s Day with a grand programme at the Guru Mission Centre in East Ham. The spotlight of the event fell on a play “My Body, My Decision” written and directed by Saleena Sadasivan and presented by Guruprabha. It was a contemporary art feast dealing with women's rights. SNGM General Secretary Geeja Srilal welcomed the gathering and Women’s Forum Leader Usha Prashobh addressed the audience.
Newham Labour Party Councillor Harvinder Singh Virdi was the chief guest at the function. Dr. Isra Ismail and Dr. Shruti from Nirva Health, a UK-based wellness brand specialising in holistic health solutions rooted in Ayurveda and Yoga, spoke on health care—Bharatanatyam performance by Nihira Sadaneni and Avnita Ratheesh and light music provided by Manju Mandirathil.
Rusi Giridharan recited a poem. Rani Raghu Lal, Soumya Shyju, Seena Ajeesh, Adhina Andrews, and Greeshma Akhilan performed group dance. Another group dance was by Swapna Sam, Jaycee Jaymon, Swapna Karunakaran, and Preena Pillai. Suresh Kumar, Alex, and Ajith paid tribute to the late legendary singer P. Jayachandran through his songs. The program concluded with a thank you address by Kumari Jyothiprakash.
