Manoj Kumar Bharathiraja, son of legendary director Bharathiraja, died of cardiac arrest at the age of 48 on Tuesday.
After his exciting debut in ‘Taj Mahal’ directed by his father, Manoj did a handful of movies but failed to carve a niche in the tightly contested kollywood world. Lately, Manoj has been doing supporting roles in movies. Manoj was multifaceted, knowing ropes of many trades. He was a singer, director and actor. Manoj also worked as an assistant director in Shankar’s magnum opus Enthiran.
Manoj leaves behind his wife Nandana, and two children. Nandana is a native of Kozhikode in Kerala and was an erstwhile actress. The two married in 2006 after getting assent from their families. The couple have two children, Arshitha and Mathivathani.
Nandana acted in movies such as Swapnam Kondu Thulabharam, Snehithan, Sethurama Iyer CBI and Chathikkatha Chanthu. Kozhikode is also devastated, knowing the passing away of Manoj. The couple visited the beach town last year.
In 2006, the couple married at Karaparamba Ashivard Lawns in Kozhikode. Manoj devoured Kozhikode’s mouth-watering cuisines and was more like a son to Nandana’s close family members. As per the report, Manoj showed no signs of health complications, even in his last medical checkup. The sudden death news has thus left everyone, including Kozhikode in disbelief.
