David Català touches down in Kochi

KOCHI: Kerala Blasters' new coach David Català Jiménez arrived in Kochi to a rousing welcome from Blasters’ fans at the Nedumbassery airport. The Blasters' management had announced Català as the head coach four days ago. Former head coach Mikael Stahre was sacked halfway through the ISL season following poor performance.

Català comes with a wealth of experience in European football. His first challenge would be helping Blasters win silverware in the Super Cup next month.

Català, a former Celta Vigo player who shared the pitch with Spain forward Iago Aspas and other superstars, had his last assignment at AEK Larnaca, Cyprus. The former Spain international’s game plan involves strategic pressing.
