MUMBAI: Famous Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar known as Bharat Kumar passed away Friday morning. He was 87. He died at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He had been undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments for a long time. In the meantime, he also had heart issues and so was admitted to the hospital.
He was active in Bollywood films for four decades. Manoj Kumar’s Bollywood debut was with the film 'Fashion' in 1957. He became famous for patriotic films like Purab Aur Paschim and Kranti. He is also a producer. He has won many awards including Padma Shri and Dadasaheb Phalke.
He was born on July 24 Abbottabad, a small town in the North-West Frontier Province, British India (now Pakistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) in 1937. His real name was Harikrishnan Goswami.
