THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary MV Govindan said that the case against Veena will also evaporate like the gold smuggling allegations levelled against the Chief Minister. "There is no comparison between Kodiyeri's son's case and the SFIO case. Kodiyeri's name is not in his son's case. However, the SFIO case is about the Chief Minister's daughter. There is no comparison between the two. This is a political conspiracy against the Chief Minister. It will be dealt with legally and politically," Govindan told in press conference. "This is a case where the Income Tax Settlement Board examined everything and avoided prosecution. Everything should be settled there. In normal cases, explanations are sought from those involved. That did not happen here. It is being used politically," he alleged.
"The SFIO investigation was announced on the day PC George and his son joined the BJP. The intervention to extend the life of this case was done by making such blatant political interference. The central government, these people who joined the BJP, and Mathew Kuzhalnadan MLA all filed cases in several courts. All three vigilance courts dismissed this case. They appealed to the High Court. It was completely rejected there too. Yet, there are vested interests behind the allegations against the Chief Minister. The SFIO report is under consideration by the court. There was no need to rush into the case. This is a move with an eye on the elections. The media is also scheming to make the case viral at a time when a new BJP president has come to power in Kerala," Govindan said.
