CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi asked college students to chant Jai Shri Ram. The incident took place at a function held at a private engineering college in Madurai on Saturday. When the governor, who was the chief guest at the function, asked them to chant Jai Shri Ram, some students chanted the same.

After the video of the incident went viral, various political and social organizations have come out to criticize the governor's action. DMK spokesperson Dharanidharan said that the governor's action is against the secular values ​​of the country and is an attempt to violate the Constitution.

"On this day, let us pay tribute to the one who was a great devotee of Shri Ram. I would say and you would say Jai Shri Ram," the governor asked the students. The students followed suit. In his speech at the college, Governor RN Ravi had harshly criticized the DMK and the state government.
