'Male singer tried to destroy her career, Rimi then cut ties with him permanently and blocked his number'

Rimi Tomy is a singer who has won the hearts of Malayalees with her melodious songs and unique presentation style. She is now in the spotlight after veteran director Alleppey Ashraf revealed some lesser-known events from her life.

“Rimi Tomy earned her opportunities by preparing applications on her own and participating in auditions without anyone's help, where she proved her talent. At one point, her presence was considered essential for the success of stage shows. Before Rimi entered the scene, we were used to seeing female singers perform with notebooks in hand in front of the mic. It was Rimi’s arrival that completely changed this pattern. She brought a revolution with her singing and dancing. This change that Rimi initiated has now become the norm in music shows. Wherever Malayalees gather to celebrate, they compete to include Rimi in their festivities.

Rimi does not have many enemies in the field of art. Or if there are any, all they say is that 'a screw needs to be slightly tightened.' She’s someone who gets emotional even over small issues. I remember once she came to Madras to record a song for one of my films. Raghukumar was the music director. I had replaced the singer he initially wanted with Rimi.

After the recording, when Rimi came outside, I went to talk to her and found her in tears. No matter how much I asked, she wouldn’t say what was wrong. Since she had to catch a flight, she just said goodbye and left quickly. Later, when I went inside to find out what happened, I learned that the music director got angry with her for no valid reason. I then understood—it was his frustration at me for not choosing the singer he had recommended, and he had taken it out on Rimi.

Something similar happened when Rimi was a judge on a reality show. She gave a contestant positive feedback and a good score, which didn’t sit well with a senior judge. That senior openly mocked and criticised her, causing Rimi to walk off the set in tears—something that became public knowledge. Later, a male singer attempted to push her out of the industry, even going so far as to say she’d never sing again. In response, Rimi cut ties with him permanently and blocked his number,” Alleppey Ashraf said.
