NEW DELHI: With the India-Pakistan conflict intensifying, the country has declared a high alert across land, sea, and air zones. A heightened state of vigilance has been imposed in Delhi, key military installations, strategic establishments, ports, airports, and metro cities. Areas near India Gate in Delhi were evacuated following the drone and missile attacks by Pakistan in Jammu.
The city has been brought under full police control. Additional air marshals have been deployed on flights. Airlines have issued guidelines requesting passengers to arrive at the airport three hours before departure. High alert has been declared across all border regions of the country.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah held discussions with the heads of BSF and CISF to assess the situation. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the central government has called for a virtual meeting with Members of Parliament (MPs).
Military bases targeted
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the drone and missile attacks were aimed at military bases in Jammu, Udhampur, and Pathankot in Punjab. The attack attempt was swiftly neutralised. No casualties were reported, and no significant damage has been recorded. All educational institutions in Jammu and Kashmir have been closed until May 10.
