NEW DELHI: It didn't take India even a moment to reduce Pakistan's boasted Fatah-II hypersonic ballistic missile to ashes. The IAF shot down Fatah-II, which was flying towards the country's capital, 250 km from Delhi.

Pakistan was stunned when the Fatah, which they saw as a master weapon, crashed in the sky of Sirsa in Haryana. Pakistan even threatened to wage a nuclear attack, trusting Fatah. The fact that India was able to destroy Fatah, which was flying blindly through radars and missile defence systems, confirms the strength of the Indian defence.

Main weapon

  • Fatah means conqueror
  • Officially tested by the Pakistani army in 2021
  • Land-to-land firing
  • 200-400 km range
  • An upgraded version of Fatah-I. Fatah-I has a range of 140 km
  • Supersonic speed is provided by a dual-thrust solid rocket motor
  • Launched from a mobile twincell canister
  • Iran also has a similar missile called Fatah-II

Guidance system

Operates using advanced avionics and inertial satellite navigation system

Mobility

Since it can be launched from a mobile launcher, it can be used against the enemy in difficult terrain

Target

After going into space, it rushes to its target on Earth. Therefore, it can attack the enemy's military bases and strategic areas.
