RAIPUR: A truck loaded with people crashed into a trailer lorry killing nearly 13 in Chattisgarh’s Sargavon. Many sustained injuries. Police said the accident happened on Raipur-Balodabazar Road last night.
The truck was carrying people attending a programme in Bansari village. Raipur SP Lal Umaid Singh said 13 people have died in the accident. Four children and nine women were killed. Police said a family from Chataud village had gone to Bansari village to attend a family gathering. Reports said 11 injured have been admitted at Dr Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur.
Soon after the incident, the police and the district administration reached the spot and carried out rescue operations to take the injured to the hospital. Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the cause of the accident.
