Turkey is a country that has openly supported Pakistan and provided weapons, including during India's 'Operation Sindoor' military operation. The central government and the Indian business world have started to retaliate against it. As a first step, the central government has decided to stop the ground handling services of the Turkish company 'Celebi Airport Service' at eight airports, including Kochi, Mumbai and Delhi. The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has withdrawn the security clearance of this company. The company was granted the clearance in 2022. With this withdrawal, they will have to stop their services in India and return. The order states that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the national security. If a company from a country that has openly helped an enemy country is allowed to operate at airports, it cannot be said that terrorists will not infiltrate under the guise of employees of that company.
Demands to boycott countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan, which support Pakistan, in all sectors are emerging from various sections of the public. Meanwhile, the Indian business community and consumers have started a 'Boycott Turkey' campaign on their own, which has gained special attention. The number of people who have stated on social media that they will not buy any fruit, including apples, from Turkey is increasing day by day. In addition, some prominent traders have also decided not to sell products from Turkey. As a result, the sale of fruits and dry fruits from Turkey has fallen sharply in the market for the last two days. Prime Minister Modi had also made it clear in his address to the nation that war and trade cannot go together.
Traders are now preferring to import apples from other countries instead of Turkish apples. Apart from fruits, India also imports a large number of products like marble, cement, gold, and mineral oil. Indian exports to Turkey are limited to petroleum, vehicles, and related components. Even if Turkey bans Indian exports as a retaliatory measure, nothing much will happen to India. The missiles used by Pakistan during the Indo-Pak war also had Turkish stamps on them. China and Turkey were the main countries that provided arms to Pakistan.
Traders in Pune were the first to decide to boycott products from Turkey. It later turned into a 'Boycott Turkey' campaign across the country. Losing a large market like India will adversely affect farmers and traders in Turkey. According to statistics, there is a dry fruit trade worth billions of dollars between India and Turkey every year.
Today, India is a country that is growing rapidly in all sectors of the world. India which retaliates when it is hit. This is not the India of the past. Those who are caught up in India's hatred will have to suffer its bitter consequences soon.
