BOGOTA: The act of Colombia expressing condolences to the people who lost their lives in Pakistan during Operation Sindoor is disappointing, said Shashi Tharoor MP. He also clarified that those who send terrorists and those who defend themselves are not equal. An all-party delegation as part of Operation Sindoor is presently in Colombia.
'We are a little disappointed in the response of the Colombian government. Instead of showing sympathy with the victims of terrorism, the government expressed condolences on the loss of lives in Pakistan after the Indian attack. We are only exercising our right of self-defense. We are happy to explain the situation to Colombia. Just as Colombia has faced many terrorist attacks, we are also facing them. We have faced many terrorist attacks for four decades.
China provides 81 percent of Pakistan's defense systems. Most of Pakistan's equipment is used for offense, not defense. We are fighting against terrorism,' Tharoor said.
The delegation led by Tharoor arrived in Colombia yesterday after visiting Panama and Guyana. Tharoor's team is one of seven multilateral delegations sent by India to visit 33 countries to engage with the international community after the Pahalgam terror attack. The delegation includes Sarfraz Ahmad (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhuvneshwar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena), Tejaswi Surya (BJP) and former ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
