SHILLONG: The body of a husband who went missing along with his wife during their honeymoon in Meghalaya has been recovered. The deceased has been identified as Raja Raghuvanshi, a native of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. However, there is still no information about the whereabouts of his wife, Sonam.
Police have reportedly obtained crucial evidence from the area near Raja's body. A sharp weapon, believed to be a machete, and a broken smartphone were recovered from the scene. The couple had gone missing in Cherrapunji on May 23. Police confirmed that Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered using a machete. Madhya Pradesh police said that the search for Sonam is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Indore Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Tripathi told the media that more details about the death will become clear once the post-mortem report comes out. The couple had contacted their family after reaching Cherrapunji, but no communication was received from them afterwards. The family alleges that the couple was abducted. Raja and Sonam got married on May 11. Raja belonged to a family involved in the transport business.
