THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KG Parameswaran Nair, a veteran journalist of Kerala Kaumudi and the state government, has been awarded the Swadeshabhimani Kesari Award. The award, which carries a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a sculpture designed by Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation, is the highest media award given by the state government. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present it at a function to be held at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram at 5.30 pm on the 26th.
The awards for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 were announced. KG Parameswaran Nair was awarded the 2021 award.
He was a prominent capital correspondent of Kerala Kaumudi for 35 years from 1963 to 1998. Known as KG, he is a journalist who has walked with the political history of Kerala. He knew the rules of the House better than any Speaker or Assembly Secretary. KG has also received the special award of the Legislative Assembly for the person who has served as the longest-serving legislative reporter. He has also received the K Vijayaraghavan Memorial Award, Pattom Thanupillai Award, KC Sebastian Award, etc. for excellence in journalism. He has published a book "Kerala Niyamasabha Charithravum Dharmavum".
