WASHINGTON: A US intelligence report suggests that despite the airstrikes carried out on the orders of US President Donald Trump, two out of three Iranian nuclear facilities were not completely destroyed. The report claims that the attacks only managed to delay Iran's nuclear program by a few months.
The report, prepared by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) — the Pentagon’s military intelligence wing — states that Iran's major nuclear sites at Fordow and Natanz were not fully destroyed. It also warns that Iran may be able to restart its nuclear program sooner than expected.
However, Trump has strongly denied the findings of the intelligence report. He continues to stand by his earlier claim that all three targeted Iranian nuclear facilities were destroyed in the attack. Calling the report "fake news," Trump alleged that it was an attempt to downplay the success of the military operation. The White House Press Secretary has also dismissed the claims made in the report.
