THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George said that a comprehensive investigation will be conducted into the allegation of a doctor that there is no surgical equipment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. "The allegation has not been filed with the government as a complaint. Only one surgery was not performed due to a technical problem," the minister said in response to the media.
"A report was sought from the DME when the incident came to light. The DME has submitted a report that 312 surgeries were performed in the urology department in May. According to the information provided by the DME, four surgeries were scheduled. Out of these, three were performed. One could not be performed due to a problem with the probe. The matter has not come to the attention of the government. It did not come to the attention of the DME either. It will be thoroughly investigated," the minister clarified.
700 crores were allocated to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College through KIIFB. A significant amount was allocated to the urology department as well. The minister, who said that the matters in the Facebook post should be investigated, added that the doctor should be asked about the withdrawal of the post.
