Reuters official X handle in India withheld, no official word yet

NEW DELHI: The official X handle of the international news agency Reuters has been withheld in India due to a legal demand since Friday. The reason for it is unclear. Several X users have shared posts on social media citing the blocking of Reuters' X page. Neither Reuters nor the central government have responded on it.

Users said Reuters X handle is available to those outside India. When the account is opened, it shows that the account has been withheld in India due to legal demand. There is no further information on whether the block is temporary or permanent.

Although Reuters' main X account has been withheld, several subsidiary accounts, including Reuters Tech News, Reuters Fact Check, Reuters Pictures, Reuters Asia and Reuters China, are still accessible in India. Reuters is a news agency based in London.
