THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: VC Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal has issued an order stating that suspended Registrar Dr. KS Anil Kumar coming to the office is a serious misconduct and a criminal offence. Strong action will be required to protect the reputation of the university. The VC informed all the employees through the order that Dr. Anil Kumar is under suspension. "He is not fit to perform the duties of the Registrar at this stage. If Dr. Anil Kumar continues to perform the duties of the Registrar even after the order is issued, all of them will become invalid. Employees should not send files to Dr. Anil Kumar anymore. If they do, it will be considered a breach of discipline and misconduct and action will be taken," the VC pointed out.
The VC warned all the officials not to take the above action on the files approved by Dr. Anil Kumar and that taking the above action without the approval of Dr. Mini Kappan, who is in charge of the Registrar, would be taken seriously. Dr. Anil Kumar was in the office even when the VC's order reached the sections.
The VC rejected the recommendation of Dr. Anil Kumar in the union's request for an immediate allocation of Rs. 10 lakh for the activities of the university union. Since the funds are needed for the activities of the student union, the VC ordered that the relevant file be sent immediately with the recommendation of Dr. Mini Kappan, who is in charge of the registrar.
The VC also rejected the demand of the Left members to call a syndicate meeting immediately. According to the university statute 6 (1), the meeting should be held every two months. There is no provision in the university statutes for a special syndicate meeting. A special syndicate meeting was held on July 6. According to the statute, it will be enough to meet by September 6. The VC is of the opinion that the syndicate will be called only after Dr. Anil Kumar steps down after accepting the suspension.
