KOCHI: Uncertainty continues despite reports that the death sentence of Nimishapriya, a Malayali nurse from Kollangode, Palakkad, who is imprisoned in Yemen, has been commuted. Although there is new information that the death sentence will be commuted to life imprisonment, there is no confirmation.
No official information is available from Yemen, where there is internal conflict. Although the central government is making strong interventions, there are many limitations.
Samuel Jerome, a social activist in Yemen and a native of Tamil Nadu, told Kerala Kaumudi that what is being spread are rumours, and they will have a negative effect. He responded that he is trying his best and will inform through social media if there is progress.
Adv. K.L. Balachandran, who appeared before the NRI Commission for Nimishapriya, said that the information received unofficially is that she will be sentenced to life imprisonment or released on payment of blood money.
