THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Late actor Shanavas’ debut was through 'Premageethangal' directed by Balachandra Menon. Menon had earlier said how he entered the film industry. Balachandra Menon once came to meet Shanavas' father and actor Prem Nazir. However, Prem Nazir talked about his busy schedule. Menon immediately said that he came for his son's date. Hearing this, Prem Nazir was surprised. Nazir asked, 'Shanavas, will he act?' The director had previously said that this was Shanavas's film debut.
Prem Nazir and Shanavas acted together for the first time in 'Ivan Oru Simham'. Shanavas was a bit worried when he knew that his first shot in the film was with his father. He
convinced director Suresh to take the shot later. However, Nazir, who knew about this, called Shanavas closer and said, 'Dad and son at home. Here, we both are actors. After applying makeup, just pretend to be that character. Acting, that is your job.' His father's words later turned a great inspiration in his life. Shanavas’ last wish of directing a film remained unfulfilled.
He died last midnight at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He had been undergoing treatment for kidney ailments. His funeral will be held this evening at the Palayam Jamaat in Thiruvananthapuram.
