Additional Rs 150 crore to Rajinikanth for breaking booking records; Know more about 'Coolie' star cast salaries

Frenetic fans are waiting for 'Coolie", directed by Kollywood hitmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. The film will hit the theatres on August 14. The story revolves around a former gang leader named Deva. It features a big star cast including Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Pooja Hegde, Upendra, Aamir Khan, and Soubin Shahir.

The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. It is reported that lead actor Rajinikanth received Rs 200 crore as remuneration for the movie. It is also reported that the producers have decided to pay Rajinikanth an additional Rs 150 crore after the film broke prebooking records.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is reported to have received Rs 20 crore for the movie. Telugu actor Nagarjuna was paid Rs 10 crore as remuneration. It is reported that actor Sathyaraj has also been paid Rupees five crore as remuneration. National media reported that Shruti Haasan was paid Rupees four crore for the movie.

Coolie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam. The overseas distribution rights of Coolie have reportedly been sold for around Rs 81 crore. This is a record overseas distribution for a Tamil film. It is reported that the Telugu rights have been acquired by Nagarjuna's banner Annapurna Studios for Rs 60 crore. There are reports that the film will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video in October after its theatrical release.
