There are many people in our country who love dogs and cats, and many keep them as pets. However, the issue of the stray dog menace is severe in several places. Many people have been bitten by stray dogs in Kerala and other states, and some have died. The situation in Delhi is particularly serious. The Supreme Court had ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi should be moved to shelter homes within two months. Actress Sadaa has now responded to this issue.

The actress said it is impossible to move lakhs of dogs into shelter homes within such a short time. She claimed that the decision was taken with the hidden intention of killing the dogs, and said it broke her heart. She added that such a move was unacceptable.

Sadaa’s words:

“A girl recently died due to rabies. Following that, around three lakh dogs will either be relocated or killed. It is impossible for the government or local bodies to build enough shelters in such a short time to hold all these dogs. This will end up becoming a mass killing of dogs.

The current situation is because of the government’s and local bodies’ inability to vaccinate or sterilise dogs. The Animal Birth Control program has existed for years. If there had been a proper budget allocated and it had been implemented effectively, we would not be in this situation today.

I don’t know what to do. I don’t know which authorities to approach or where to go to protest. But there’s only one thing I can say - this is killing me from the inside. This is just not right. I feel ashamed of us, ashamed of our country, ashamed of those who didn’t think twice before passing this order. Please withdraw this decision.” The actress spoke these words while breaking down in tears.
