THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in Kerala for the next five days. A well-marked low-pressure area lies over the Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast in the Bay of Bengal. It is likely to intensify into a deep depression within the next 12 hours and reach the north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coast by tomorrow morning. A trough is also present over the Arabian Sea from the south Konkan to the north Kerala coast. These factors are expected to bring widespread heavy rain to Kerala.
Considering the situation, an orange alert has been declared today and tomorrow in three districts- Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod. The IMD has predicted the possibility of very heavy rainfall in these districts. According to the IMD, very heavy rainfall refers to 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain within 24 hours.

Isolated parts of these districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall refers to 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in 24 hours.
