LONDON: Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident where five people were injured after an Indian restaurant was set on fire in East London. The fire broke out on Friday evening at the 'Indian Aroma' restaurant on Woodford Avenue. Two people who suffered injuries in the incident are in critical condition. One of them is a woman. Eyewitnesses reported seeing one of them emerge from the restaurant engulfed in flames.
According to the Metropolitan Police, a 15-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man have been taken into custody. They are believed to be the ones who set the restaurant on fire. The fire broke out at the restaurant at around 9 pm on Friday. It took firefighters about one and a half hours to bring the blaze under control. Police said that apart from the five seriously injured, two others were also hurt. However, they fled the scene before rescuers arrived. Efforts are underway to find them. Around 10 people managed to escape without injuries. Police have urged the public to come forward with any information about the attackers.
