THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil is in fresh trouble again. The crime branch issues notice asking him to appear on Saturday for interrogation in the case of forging a fake identity card for youth congress election. He is being grilled again after Rahul's name was mentioned in a voice message received from one of the accused' mobile phone. Rahul had resigned as Youth Congress president following sexual harassment allegations. The fake identity card case resurfaced again in between this.

The case is for forging election commission’s fake card for winning the polls. The crime branch has asked Rahul to appear at their office in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. The Museum Police, which was investigating at that time, had questioned Rahul in the beginning. Since there was no significant evidence, he was not arraigned. The crime branch, which later took up the case, is now investigating Rahul again.

Six had been arrested earlier in the case. Four of Rahul's close aides including Feni Nainan, were arrested, along with Kasaragod Youth Congress leader Jaisan, who had developed an application to create fake cards. Reports said Rahul's name is mentioned in one of the audio recordings recovered when the accused' mobile phone was subjected to scientific examination. The mobile application called C R Card was used to create the fake cards.
