MANGALURU: A six-member gang has been arrested in the case of honey trapping a man from Kasaragod. The arrests were made in a case of robbery after beating up a 37-year-old man. The arrested have been identified as Sawad (28) from Baindur in Karnataka, Saifullah (38) from Gulvadi, Mohammed Nasir Sharif (36) from Hangalur, Abdul Sattar (23), Asma (43) and Abdul Aziz (26) from Shivamogga. The police have taken the two cars in the possession of the gang into custody.
The man was lured into the honey trap by 43-year-old Asma. The relationship started with a phone call between the two. This started only a week ago. Asma had assured that she would meet the man in person and that he should come near the petrol pump in Kundapura. After reaching the spot as per Asma's instructions, the two went to the woman's house in a car. The rest of the gang reached there soon after.
After assaulting the man, rendering him helpless, the accused took away his money. They took away Rs 6200 from his hand and Rs 30,000 through UPI. Later, they took away the man's ATM card and withdrew Rs 40,000 through it before allowing him to leave. A case has been registered against the accused under sections of kidnapping, robbery, assault and criminal conspiracy.
