Police brutality at Peechi station: Hotel owner and son brutally beaten

THRISSUR: Visuals have come out showing Peechi police officers, led by then Sub-Inspector P.M. Ratheesh, assaulting Pattikkad Lalys Hotel owner K.P. Ouseph and his son. The incident took place on May 24, 2023, and the footage was obtained after a legal battle of over a year through the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

The dispute began over food served at the hotel, after which Ouseph and his son Paul Joseph were summoned to the police station. Although applications were filed under RTI to access the footage, they were repeatedly rejected citing various reasons. Even after the video surfaced, no action has been taken against the accused officers. Ouseph has now approached the High Court, seeking to include the Sub-Inspector as an accused in the case.
