KARACHI: A blast during a cricket match in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed one person and injured several others. The incident took place during a cricket match at the Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district on Saturday. Police have confirmed that the attack was carried out using an explosive device. The incident comes after recent clashes in the region. The blast occurred at a time when the Pakistani army has been taking action against militant activities in the country.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. Authorities have blamed militants for the blast, which was carried out in response to Operation Sarbakaf, which security forces launched last month. The incident is said to be a continuation of two separate encounters that took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday. Three militants were killed in an encounter with police in the Lachi police station area of Kohat district.
