THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sanju Samson offered a gift to his teammates at Kochi Blue Tigers after they became champions of the second season of the Kerala Cricket League. The Indian wicketkeeper has divided the amount he received in the auction between his teammates and coaches. The maximum amount a team was allowed to spend in the auction was Rs 50 lakh. Of this, Kochi splashed Rs 26.8 lakh to bring Sanju to their camp.
Sanju, who is also the captain of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals, was retained by the Royals last season for around 15 crores. If he is put up for auction in the coming season, there is a chance for the Malayali cricketer to end up becoming the most expensive player ever in IPL history.
At present, in a good gesture, Sanju decided to give away the amount he received from KCL to his teammates as a gift for their excellent performance that resulted in the triumph. Sanju had previously taken the initiative in bringing players from Kerala to IPL trials. At a time when fame turns one blind, Sanju is turning into an anomaly, still staying back in his roots and helping his co-players in Kerala emulate the success he had in life.
