THRISSUR: Youth Congress leader V.S. Sujith, who was subjected to custodial torture at Kunnamkulam station and won a legal battle against it, is getting married today. In the backdrop of public sentiment still raging against the government and the police, the presence of prominent figures at the wedding ceremony will attract attention like a protest stage. Former KPCC presidents V.M. Sudheeran, K. Muraleedharan, former Youth Congress state president Shafi Parambil MP and other MPs will attend the wedding, V.S. Sujith told Kerala Kaumudi.

Sujith, the son of Suresh and his wife Sheeba, is getting married to Thrishna, the daughter of Sathyan and Asha. Prominent figures will attend the wedding reception at the Chowannur Community Hall after the thalikettu ceremony at the Guruvayur temple between 7 and 7.45 am today. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, who had come to visit Sujith before the wedding, had gifted him a one-sovereign gold ring and DCC President Joseph Tajet a two-sovereign gold necklace.

Emergency resolution in the assembly tomorrow

Sujith added that none of the MLAs will be present at the wedding as the assembly session begins today, but the DCC president and other Congress leaders will attend. Since the assembly will adjourn after the condolence resolution today, the emergency resolution related to the assault on Sujith will pave the way for a heated debate in the assembly tomorrow.
