KOZHENCHERRY: A couple invited youngsters to their home and subjected them to brutal atrocities to seek revenge for illicit advances. Although the young woman initially confused the police with her false story, it eventually became clear that the torture was a revenge attack over an illicit relationship. Kuravankuzhy natives Jayesh (30) and his wife Rashmi (25) were arrested. They unleashed brutalities on the youths by tying them up, stabbing stapler pins into their private parts, pulling out their nails and stabbing them with a needle.
On the 1st of this month, a 19-year-old native of Neelamperoor, Alappuzha, and on the 5th, a 29-year-old native of Athikayam, Ranni, fell into their trap. The two were colleagues at Jayesh's workplace in Bengaluru. The duo first made contact with Rashmi when she picked up the call meant for her husband. The talks then became frequent, and it is alleged that the duo made advances with her.
The Ranni native, who was abandoned on the road after the assault, was shifted to a hospital nearby by an auto driver. It was the hospital authorities who informed the police of the torture. When the police came to take a statement, the youngster made up a sham story saying that he was beaten by his lover’s family members. The police found contradictions in the statement and quizzed him further when the horrific torture came out.
A 19-year-old teen who had returned to Kerala from Bengaluru was brought home by Jayesh on a bike from Maramon on Monday. He forced the youngster to act out a scene as if having intercourse with Rashmi or else threatened to kill him. Jayesh filmed the act on the phone, tied up the youngster using shawls and thrashed his hands and feet with a wire rod. He hit him in the eyes and stomach with a bicycle chain.
Rashmi used a cutting pliers to press the young man's finger. Then he made him lie on the bed, undressed him and pepper-sprayed him. He snatched Rs 19,000 and his mobile phone and dropped him off at an auto stand in Kozhencherry.
The second incident took place on the 5th at 6 pm on Thiruvonam. Rashmi called the 29-year-old to her house. While they were talking, Jayesh ambushed him with a pepper-spray. He put a surgical blade to the neck of the young man and threatened him. Jayesh tied his hands with a shawl. The youngster then got roughed up with a wire rod. Rashmi stabbed him with a stapler pin in his genitals. Jayesh stuck a needle between the nails of his right foot. The accused then pepper-sprayed the victim’s wounds. At around 8 pm, Jayesh and Rashmi pushed the unconscious young man on a scooter and pushed him near the Puthamon bridge. An autorickshaw driver who happened to be passing by took him to the hospital. The youngster was then shifted to Kottayam Medical College and a private hospital.
