NEW DELHI: A Kashmiri native who helped terrorists in the Pahalgam terror attack has been arrested. The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Yousuf Kataria. Mohammad Kataria was arrested after forensic examination of the weapons and equipment recovered during Operation Mahadev in July. It is reported that he supplied the goods to the terrorists. Kataria will be remanded in judicial custody after being produced in court.
Operation Mahadev was a joint operation by the Rashtriya Rifles, J&K Police, and Para SF to kill three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists near Srinagar after the July 2025 terror attacks. The Indian Army's Chinar Corps, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police killed three Pakistani terrorists in Lidwas near Harwan in Srinagar. The operation was launched based on information received by the army that the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terror attack had moved into the dense forests of Dachigam National Park and the nearby Dara area, about 20 km from Srinagar.
26 civilians, including a Malayali, were killed and many others injured in a terrorist attack in "Baisaran Meadows" in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy organization of the banned terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba listed under the UAPA, claimed responsibility for the attack. India retaliated for the attack through Operation Sindoor. The Indian Army destroyed nine terrorist camps operating in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The attack, which began at 1:05 am on May 7, was completed by 1:30 am. The army destroyed the centres of terrorist organizations Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen through missile strikes.
