KG George is a prominent director who made classic films in Malayalam. He passed away two years ago. KG George passed away in an old age home in Kakkanad. After his obituary was published, there was widespread criticism against his wife and children. The criticism was that they had taken possession of KG George's money and property and thrown him in an old age home. Now, his daughter Thara George has come forward with an explanation in this regard.
"Daddy hated living dependent on his children. He used to say much long ago that he would only live in an old age home after the age of 60. That's how we found the old age home called Signature. Daddy used to come home occasionally. He was at home until a year before his death. No one came to look for Daddy after he retired from films. That was very distressing for him.
"When my Daddy died, the people in the old age home first informed the media. No one there had informed us about his health condition. At that time, many allegations were made against us through the media. That we did not look after our own father in his last days. We were unable to respond to those allegations at that time. We could not even cry. Daddy did not have much money. He lived in Signature for many years. He was paying Rs. 50,000 a month there.
"Daddy directed 19 films. He wanted to make a film with Mohanlal in the lead. Mohanlal also had the same desire. Daddy used to say that Mohanlal was a great actor. We felt that none of the characters in the 19 films he did suited Mohanlal. He had written a script for a film. Daddy had said that it would be okay only if Mohanlal played the lead role in it," Thara George said.
