KASARGOD: A male advocate has been taken into custody in connection with the death of a female advocate in Kumbla. The police took the youth of Thiruvananthapuram into custody last night. He will be brought to the station by Kumbla police. After questioning him, the police will take steps to arrest him.
C Ranjitha (30) of Bathery in Kumbla, was found hanging in her office last Tuesday. The police had taken her phone into custody in connection with the incident. The youth was taken into custody following the information obtained from the phone. Soon after Ranjitha committed suicide, the youth had fled to the capital city.
Her colleagues said that he did not turn up to see her body or pay tributes to her. The CPM Kumbla local committee had demanded a comprehensive investigation to unravel the mysteries surrounding her death. Ranjitha was a member of the Kumbla local committee, village secretary of the Democratic Women's Association and DYFI regional president.
