The Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed some cuts to Shane Nigam's pan-Indian film ‘Soul of Haal’. The main direction is to remove the scene of eating beef biryani. The board also directed to remove references like Dhwaja Pranamam, Sangham Kavalundu, Rakhi, Ganapathivattom. The board also asked to remove the scene of the heroine wearing a purdah.

The Censor Board has asked to remove 15 scenes from the film. The CBFC's stand is to given an A certificate for the film. Meantime, the film's producers have approached the high court against the board’s action.

In a plea filed in the high court, the crew of Haal demanded that new criteria be formulated to complete the censoring in a timely manner. ‘There is no violence or nudity in the film. Still, the CBFC has said that it will give an A certificate. The film has tried to talk about the problems going on in the society through the film. However, has not insulted any religion or political party.

The film has a scene of eating mutton biryani and not beef biryani. Beef biryani was not served in the shooting location. But the film says beef biryani can be eaten. We tried to give a good message through the film,' the crew clarified.

Haal directed by Veera, is a musical film. Vaidya Sakshi is the heroine of the film. Nishad Koya has written the script. The film is produced under the banner of JVJ Productions.
