ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed its disagreement with the joint statement issued by India and Afghanistan following the visit of the Taliban Foreign Minister to India. Pakistan also criticised the remarks made by Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi after his first visit to India. The reference in the India-Taliban joint statement that Jammu and Kashmir is part of India has angered Pakistan. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry pointed out that this is a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions. Pakistan also stated that it has conveyed its disagreement to the Additional Foreign Secretary for West Asia and Afghanistan.
In a statement issued on October 10, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar thanked Afghanistan for condemning the Pahalgam terror attack. Both strongly condemned all acts of terrorism emanating from their countries. S Jaishankar also underlined the importance of promoting peace, stability and mutual trust in the region, the statement said.
Pakistan had also criticized the Afghan minister's statement that terrorism is an internal matter of Pakistan. Pakistan claims that terrorist acts against them are being carried out on Afghan soil. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry also claimed that information about such terrorist elements has been shared with Afghanistan. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said the Afghan government cannot shy away from ensuring peace and stability in Pakistan.
The Afghan Foreign Minister arrived in India on Thursday. He met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar in New Delhi on October 10. This was the first high-level diplomatic interaction between India and the Taliban regime since they took office in 2021.
