THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Navy’s grand celebration, Navy Day, will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on December 4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the chief guest. Preparations for the event have begun at Shanghumugham Beach.

Naval ships, submarines, fighter jets, and other defence equipment will arrive in the state capital for the celebration. Spectacular demonstrations showcasing the Navy’s strength and defence capabilities will be held. Naval aircraft will conduct practice flights in the days leading up to the event.

Traditionally celebrated in Delhi, Navy Day events have been shifted to different cities across the country since 2022 as part of a central government decision. The day commemorates ‘Operation Trident,’ the successful naval attack on Karachi during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
