KOCHI: The sponsors confirmed that Argentina will face Australia in Kaloor International Stadium in Kochi as part of the friendly match agreed on November 17th. The ticket sales are expected to start in the coming days, and the football fanatics in Kerala are in high élan over reports of football legend Lionel Messi’s visit.
The euphoria over the news is slowly fading after repeated reports from sports journalists in Argentina saying that the Kerala schedule has been replaced with Angola in Africa. Gaston Edul, a sports journalist linked with AFA (Argentina Football Association), broke the news, and it is unlikely to be erroneous. Edul is known for his association with AFA and is a reliable journalist.
EDULS' POST:
Argentina's next matches are in November. Between the 10th and 19th. The match
in India fell through. The one in Angola is confirmed.
López and Aníbal Moreno played and fit in well together.
The next tour won't have some key players, and Scaloni will continue testing things out.
Lionel Messi’s visit to three Indian cities is confirmed, while Messi himself on Facebook talked about the possibility of playing in one more Indian city. Argentina secured the No. 1 spot in the World Cup qualifiers, and for their last game, the team used reserves in the starting 11, resting their key players. It is doubtful that the same would be used in Kerala if the scheduled game materialises.
The delay in starting the ticket sales and the lack of proper confirmation from AFA are leaving the fans in Kerala anxious and flustered. Earlier, the sponsors of the Kerala event denied the report brought out by an Argentinian broadcasting agency, reaffirming that the game would be held in Kochi on November 17th.
The sponsors are yet to respond to the report from Gaston Edul.
