BHOPAL: Former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur has said that parents should not allow their daughters to visit the houses of non-Hindus. If they do not obey, their legs should be broken, the former Bhopal MP said. After Pragya's words became controversial, the Congress has come out against the BJP, accusing it of spreading communalism. Pragya was speaking at a religious function in Bhopal.

'Strengthen your minds and make them firm enough that if our daughter does not obey us, if she goes to a non-Hindu’s house, leave no stone unturned in considering breaking her legs. Those who do not follow values or listen to their parents must be punished. When parents act this way, it is for the good of their children — they save them from being cut into pieces'

"Such girls who do not follow values, do not listen to parents, or are ready to run away from home.......be more vigilant towards them. Don’t let them leave home; stop them by explaining, scolding, or even beating if needed'- said the former BJP MP.

Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta came out against Pragya Singh's words. "Why is there so much noise and hatred being spread when only seven cases (of alleged religious conversions) in Madhya Pradesh have resulted in convictions?" Bhupendra Gupta asked.
