Government to implement projects, not to side with those who obstruct them; Chief Minister's jab aimed at CPI?

ALAPPUZHA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan indirectly criticized the CPI on the PM SHRI issue. The Chief Minister said that the government is for implementing projects and not to side with those who are obstructing them. The Chief Minister was speaking at the Punnapra Vayalar annual day celebrations. CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam is also participating in the program.

The Chief Minister also recalled that this is the occasion when V.S., a Punnapra Vayalar protest fighter, passed away. "We did not reach the situation we see today on our own. Behind it are sacrifices like the Punnapra Vayalar struggle and brutal repression. Kerala is a state that makes the country proud. The President also praised Kerala when she came here. Let us not forget the history of the mental asylum becoming a human asylum. The role played by the Renaissance is important," the Chief Minister said.

"The Renaissance had a sequel. It was carried forward by the communists. The EMS government laid the foundation for modern Kerala. School education was made free. Now there are schools within walking distance for any child. That has made a big difference to the land. The EMS government of 1957 reconstructed the police policy. Reforms were initiated in Police. Such measures helped transform Kerala. We are at such a stage now. The LDF government was in power from 2006 to 2011. After that, the last UDF government in Kerala came. The LDF government took Kerala forward to a great extent. Everything was falling apart during the UDF government," the Chief Minister said.
