KOLLAM: Schools in Kollam district will observe a half-day leave tomorrow (Monday) in connection with the Vice President's visit. The district collector has declared a holiday for 26 schools within the city limits. There is a possibility of major traffic congestion in connection with the Vice President's visit. With the imposition of traffic restrictions in place, it may be difficult for students to return home. Considering this, the classes in the 26 schools in the district will be suspended after noon.

Meanwhile, a local holiday will be declared for three taluks tomorrow in connection with the Parumala Church Perunnal. The local holiday was declared in Thiruvalla in Pathanamthitta district, Mavelikkara and Chengannur in Alappuzha district. The district collectors had earlier issued orders granting local holidays to all government offices and educational institutions in these taluks. Meanwhile, the collectors informed that the holiday will not apply to pre-scheduled public examinations.
