THRISSUR: Megastar Mammootty, who just won his seventh Best Actor (Male) award, extended his congratulations to the winners of the 55th State Film Awards. The actor said the award was nothing but a recognition in his ongoing journey. Mammootty was speaking to the media after winning the best actor for his sublime performance as Kodumon Potty in Rahul Sadasivan’s ‘Bramayugam’.

'Thank you, everyone. Congratulations to everyone who won awards with me. Congratulations to Asif, Tovino, Shamla Hamza, Siddharth Bharathan and Soubin. Congratulations to Amal Neerad’s team and the Manjummal Boys’ team. Those who couldn’t win an award this time, don’t worry, the next year is yours.

You don't act expecting to win an award. This is part of a journey where we are walking together. Many people are also part of this journey, walking alongside me. So how can a competition exist between us? We are all together. This is not any 100m sprint to be labelled as a completion." Mammootty responded.

When asked about his response to the new generation bagging all prominent awards this year, Mammootty was quick to make his characteristic riposte, saying, “Am I that old enough to not include me along with them?”
