KOLLAM: A phone conversation of a woman, who committed suicide in Kollam, with her father has emerged. Reshma (29) of Sooranad is heard telling her father about the mental harassment she is facing at her in-laws house. She is heard crying in the phone. She ended her life last Friday at her husband’s house in Punnapra.

Reshma got married in March 2018. Her family alleged that she took the drastic step following her husband's extramarital affairs and mental harassment. Her in-laws did not attend her last rites. The family said that her six-year-old son was brought for the funeral rites with the help of the police.

Some parts of her phone conversation
‘They will not allow me to live happily. Why should I live with someone who does not want me? I am capable of standing on my own feet. I can raise a child. Can a woman live only if she has a husband? I will shift somewhere and take care of my child with the job I have.

He and his family said that if paid Rs 1000, will get many women. They said the only problem is me and that I am bad. I can't bear it anymore. I thought he would change, but what can I do. He hasn't changed. His father told me that I am surviving with his expense. I am really fed up.

I was very happy when the cake was cut on my birthday? That was all just his act. He came with a cake of Rs 300. I don't know what to say, father, they insult me on the food I eat.
