Gas cylinder lorry overturns causing panic; CNG gas leak reported, vehicular traffic banned on highway

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A gas cylinder lorry overturned in Nedumangad, causing panic in the area. The accident involved a vehicle carrying CNG. The cabin of the lorry carrying gas cylinders was detached, causing the lorry to overturn on the road. The fire force has banned vehicular traffic in the area following a gas leak. The accident occurred on the Thiruvananthapuram-Thenkashi state highway at around 12 noon today.

There were 35 gas cylinders in the cabin. Two of them are currently leaking. Nedumangad and Vitthura fire forces reached the spot and completely banned vehicular traffic in the area. Efforts are currently underway to stop the leakage from the gas cylinder. People present within a 50-meter radius of the area have also been evacuated. Bedridden patients have also been evacuated from the area. The fire department says that the gas leak can be completely plugged within an hour.
